Container/Modular Design
-
Cost Effective - Shipping container conversions are more cost-effective compared to traditional construction methods.
Speed - Converting shipping containers into usable spaces is quicker than constructing a building from the ground up. The basic structure is already in place, which significantly reduces construction time.
Portability - Shipping containers are designed to be transported easily, making them inherently mobile. This is especially beneficial for applications that require the ability to move or relocate structures, such as pop-up shops, or event spaces.
Sustainability - Repurposing shipping containers contributes to sustainability by recycling and reusing existing materials. This helps reduce the demand for new construction materials and minimises waste.
Versatility - Shipping container conversions can be customised to suit a wide range of purposes, from housing and offices to retail spaces, cafes, and even art installations. Their modular design allows for creative and unique layouts.
Scalability - Containers can be stacked or connected to create larger structures, enabling scalability as your needs evolve. This adaptability is particularly valuable for expanding businesses or changing requirements.
Temporary or Permanent - Shipping container conversions can serve as both temporary and permanent structures, offering flexibility for short-term events or long-term use.
Remote Locations - Shipping container conversions are well-suited for remote or challenging locations where traditional construction methods may be difficult or impractical.
Security - Containers are naturally secure due to their robust construction and locking mechanisms. They can be easily fortified against theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
Reduced Site Disruption - The conversion process typically involves less disruption to the surrounding area compared to traditional construction. This is beneficial for urban environments or areas with limited space.

After an Initial design consultation to discuss what’s most important to you and the goals for your project, we can work together to help you figure out the best layout and features for your conversion.
-
The construction process is approximately 6-8 weeks from order, however this will depend on the factory lead time so it’s best to discuss this in more detail based on each project.
-
Determining whether you need building permits or planning permission for your shipping container conversion project depends on your location, local regulations, and the specific details of your project.
It is best to start by researching local regulations and contacting local authorities for more information.
We are able to assist you with drawings if these are required.
-
As we are involved predominantly at the beginning of the conversion process, the manufacturer will be responsible and guide you through the shipping and delivery. However here is a general guide to the process:
Logistics & Transport
Route Planning - Determining the best route for transporting the converted container to its destination. Consider factors like road conditions, height restrictions, and potential obstacles.
Transportation Method - Choosing the appropriate transportation method based on the container's size, weight, and destination.
Secure and Prepare the Container Ensuring that the container is securely fastened to the transportation vehicle to prevent shifting or damage during transit. Checking that any modifications or additions to the container are properly secured and won't pose a safety risk during transportation.
Transportation & Delivery
Road Transportation - If the container is being transported by road, a specialised truck or trailer will be used. The transportation company will drive the container to the destination following the planned route.
Unloading & Placement
On-Site Delivery - The transportation company will deliver the container to the designated location. Ensure that the site is prepared to receive the container, including any necessary foundations or supports.
Crane or Equipment - Depending on the container's weight and the site conditions, a crane or other heavy equipment may be used to unload and place the container in its final position.
Final Site Set-Up
Utility Connections - If your conversion requires utilities such as water, electricity, or sewage, ensuring that the necessary connections are made according to your plans.
Interior Finishing - Completing any remaining interior finishing work to make the converted container functional and suitable for its intended use.
-
Yes, you can absolutely integrate utilities such as electricity, heating, and plumbing into your design.
We will need these to make the space functional and comfortable for it’s intended use.
-
We typically address the security features required for each project on an individual basis.
Some things we can include are roller shutters over openings, reinforced doors and windows, steel security shutters.
-
We have been working within the container conversion industry collaboratively for 10+ years.
As well as experience we have both obtained degrees in design related courses which allows us to use our creativity combined with our knowledge of containers to help your design stand out but also meet your needs in terms of functionality and practicality.
How do Interior Design and Container Design relate?
Although they may seem like two very different fields, interior and container design share some very common elements and principles.
Space optimisation – We focus on making the most out of limited space. We aim to maximise the functionality and aesthetic of both indoor spaces such as homes and also work with the constraints of a containers size and shape to create usable and efficient spaces.
Flexibility and adaptability – Both interior and container designs often require the ability to be adaptable to meet changing needs over time. We have expertise in creating highly flexible spaces the suit a variety of purposes dependant on their use.
Sustainability and eco-friendliness – We aim to incorporate sustainable principles in all of our designs by choosing environmentally friendly materials, using energy-efficient solutions and repurposed elements to reduce the ecological impact of our projects.
